In May, AFT-Wisconsin commissioned a poll of our membership to gauge their feelings about the upcoming elections, opinions about our union's political program and our members feelings on key legislative issues. The results provide an insight into our members' sentiments as we approach the fall elections. To view a presentation of the polling results, visit the "Political Action Center" of the website. Talking About Government
Updated
On: Jun 21, 2008 (11:25:00)
The public's perception of government has grown increasingly cynical throughout the years. As a union of professional public employees, AFT-Wisconsin should help lead the way in communicating effectively about government and its role in society. On June 17, over thirty AFT-Wisconsin activists from around the state attended a training titled "Talking About Government," which was led by the Demos Center for the Public Sector. Materials and resources from the training are available to AFT-Wisconsin members in the "Professional Development" section of the website. For further information, please contact AFT-Wisconsin Communications Director Jill Malak at malak@aft-wisconsin.org.

Now UW faculty have an additional reason to be stressed out: a recent report by the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) found that salaries for UW faculty lag far behind those of their peer institutions. | | |
