AFT-Wisconsin President Kim Kohlhaas on Governor Evers's Proposal to Provide Resources for our Schools

For Immediate Release:

Thursday, February 6, 2020

Madison, WI – Governor Evers today proposed to use the state budget surplus to fund our schools.

AFT-Wisconsin President Kim Kohlhaas responded as follows:

“Electing a lifelong educator is precisely what our public schools needed. Since Governor Evers’s election, we’re finally seeing solutions that do what’s best for kids. Our public schools still receive less funding than they did a decade ago, and this proposal would go a long way to fix this. Committing to 2/3 funding for public schools, targeting aid to our rural schools and special education, and providing property tax relief should be goals all Wisconsin legislators can get behind. Our members support these popular and pro-student bills passionately.”
